Don’t known about George’s grenade but 14 months after he kept his part of the bargain I was pulling the pin on a live one, which led existential questions that changed my life and considerably improved the baking of MY American Pie.

Happy Birthday Ron.
Thanks for your updates, Ron. As for my own, I've no idea how the Palo Alto institutes of elementary learning managed to infuse an education into such an unwilling truant. I am blessed to have been a part of such a special time in such a special place. Stay safe Ron.
Ken and I got into a wee bit of - adventures - ya - that's what they were, adventures - together.
I remember the bike he had before graduation - Honda 650. He handed me the keys in front of George's donut shop and I took off for Bayshore. Sometime later I wheeled back into the Mayfair parking lot. Handing him the keys I said, "Don't you ever let me do that again. I'll die on that thing." I absolutely loved it.
I was finishing my last months at Ft. Benning after rotating out of Vietnam when Arlene reached me with the news. His was a friendship that I still count as rare in my life.
